STATHAM - A Statham man originally arrested Nov. 17 for several traffic charges is also being charged with child molestation and aggravated child molestation, police said.
Alan Konwinski, 39, of 1896 Dooley Town Road, Apt. B, is being held at the Barrow County Detention center without bond. According to reports, Konwinski was driving a vehicle in Statham when he was pulled over for undisclosed violations. A 38-year-old passenger in the vehicle, reports said, was arrested for an outstanding warrant from another jurisdiction. Police said upon investigation, a search warrant was obtained for Konwinski's home, leading to the sexual exploitation charges. At about 2:10 p.m. Nov. 17, an officer responded to a home where they spoke with the parents of the 9-year-old victim, who said they had been invited by a woman to a residence where they saw the video showing Konwinski and the child in "sexual positions." The woman said she had seen the entire video and there were "sexual relations" between Konwinski and the child. The officer then, reports said, went to Konwinski's apartment and secured the residence until the search warrant was completed. An investigator was notified and took over the scene. The case remains under investigation and additional charges may be forthcoming, said Statham Police Chief Randy Tripp.More like this story
