Broncos' Mangimelli signs with UGA

Brookwood senior Jana Mangimelli has signed with the University of Georgia's swimming program.

Mangimelli, who trains at SwimAtlanta, is a six-time All-American and won the 200 individual medley state championship at last season's state high school meet. She also is a two-time Bronco MVP and the Daily Post's 2008 girls swimmer of the year.

Blue Devils' Garrett signs with LSU

Norcross senior pitcher Forrest Garrett, a four-year member of the Blue Devils' varsity team, has signed a baseball scholarship with powerhouse Louisiana State. He is the son of David and Kathy Garrett.

Garrett had a 7-3 record with a 2.79 ERA and 69 strikeouts in 651/3 innings as a junior, earning first-team all-county honors. He also was selected as the Region 7-AAAAA pitcher of the year.

Lions' Connelly, Fernandez sign with N. Georgia

Peachtree Ridge senior softball players Krysten Connelly and Callie Fernandez have signed with North Georgia College and State University's program. Both were first-team All-County selections by the Daily Post.

Connelly, a pitcher, was 23-10 this season with a 0.97 ERA and 259 strikeouts in 216 innings. Fernandez hit .386 and led Gwinnett County with 34 RBIs.

GAC's Eisler signs with Campbell

Greater Atlanta Christian senior Emma Eisler will continue her swimming career at Campbell University (N.C.). Eisler will be honored at a Dec. 4 signing ceremony at GAC.

Georgia Force home-school team wins finale

The Georgia Force home-school football team won its season finale in the National Home School Football Association Tournament, held in Panama City Beach, Fla. The team defeated the Central Home Educators Fellowship Patriots 28-0.

'Prep Rally' features Blue Devils' Adams

"Gwinnett Prep Rally," a Gwinnett County high school sports TV program, airs football highlights from Woodstock-Norcross, Lassiter-North Gwinnett, Peachtree Ridge-Harrison and Grayson-East Paulding on this week's show.

Norcross' D.J. Adams is the show's featured athlete.

"Gwinnett Prep Rally,"hosted by Daily Post editor Todd Cline and sports editor Will Hammock, airs Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on GCPS-TV and each Wednesday-Saturday at 7:30 a.m., 6:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on GCPS-TV.
