LAWRENCEVILLE - Gwinnett police are investigating a Monday evening shooting that has left one person dead and one injured.
At about 8:30 p.m., police received a call about a possible shooting in the 3200 block of Sir Gregory Manor. Details are still sketchy, but Gwinnett Police Department spokeswoman Cpl. Illana Spellman said three people were riding down Sir Gregory Manor when the incident occurred. At least two of the occupants were teens, she said. At the scene, police had the area cordoned off about 200 yards from the area of the shooting. As police questioned neighborhood residents, investigators used flashlights to search for clues and an occasional camera flash lit up the otherwise dark area. It is unclear whether the shots came from inside the vehicle or outside, Spellman said. "We don't know ... it's still early in the investigation," Spellman said. What police do know is that the driver of the vehicle is dead and one of the passengers, reportedly a 14-year-old, was grazed and was taken to Scottish Rite Hospital. After the shooting, the vehicle crashed into another vehicle in a nearby driveway. No other injuries were reported. No information was available about the third passenger.More like this story
