LAWRENCEVILLE - Central Gwinnett High School was locked down Friday afternoon after a former student was spotted on campus and fled from school officials, a Gwinnett County Public Schools spokesman said.
As a precaution, the high school asked teachers to keep students in their classrooms, according to a message on the school's Web site. The lockdown began about 1:30 p.m., and students were dismissed about 10 minutes late, spokesman Jorge Quintana said. The youth, who was not supposed to be on the campus because he had been recently disciplined, was apprehended by a school resource officer and Lawrenceville Police shortly after he left school property, Quintana said. No weapon was found on him. It was unclear if the youth was arrested. Quintana said he could not disclose the juvenile's name, age or grade level or provide details about the former disciplinary matter.More like this story
