NORCROSS - A SWAT standoff near Norcross was short-lived Wednesday when a shooting suspect surrendered in minutes, authorities said.
Members of the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department fugitive unit learned that Bertram Alton Gordon - wanted on aggravated assault charges related to a 2007 shooting in DeKalb County - was holed up in a home on Rotondo Place, between Jimmy Carter Boulevard and Rockbridge Road. DeKalb authorities warned the local unit Gordon "had multiple firearms and had made threats he was not going back to jail," Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Stacey Bourbonnais said. The Sheriff's Department SWAT team arrived at the residence shortly before noon Wednesday. As they prepped to make forced entry into the house, Gordon came outside, lay down and surrendered, Bourbonnais said. He was arrested and turned over to DeKalb authorities without further incident.More like this story
