LAWRENCEVILLE - Maxwell High School of Technology will launch an aircraft flight operations course next year for students interested in pursuing a career in the aviation industry.

The new course will help students learn about the history of aviation, the principles of flight and navigation, the aerospace community and aviation meteorology, according to a news release. Classroom and laboratory activities will ensure students have a thorough understanding of the aviation environment.

Students interested in learning more about this course, along with Maxwell High's existing programs, can visit the school Thursday during its open house.

The event, scheduled from 2:30 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 7 p.m. at the school, is open to all Gwinnett high school students and their parents. Prospective students can tour the school and ask questions of program area teachers as they visit Maxwell's different labs, the news release states.

Some of Maxwell's existing programs include auto collision repair; automotive services; construction; cosmetology; early childhood education; electronics; engineering, drawing and design; graphic communications and design; health care science; law and justice; and welding.
