Author to discuss book

LAWRENCEVILLE - Author Michael Largo will discuss his work and sign copies of his books at the Gwinnett County Public Library Suwanee branch Monday.

Largo, a Forsyth County resident, will discuss his latest book, "Genius and Heroin," which he described as a "lighthearted alternative history" of the secret lives of artists, politicians and others who experienced addictions, suicidal depression and mental illness.

"I wanted to thematically explore the link between creativity and madness by examining the lives of the greats who were influenced by, and ultimately ruined through, drink, drug or obsession," Largo said. "An inordinate number of history's best had trouble with all three. It is interesting to view their lives from this perspective."

The book discussion will begin at 7 p.m. and is open to the public. For more information, visit www.gwinnettpl.org.
