To the editor: Childish acts won't bring this country together

Children learn name-calling early. As they mature through their teens, name-calling is replaced with more adult discussions. During the election, name-calling was used to influence a small portion of the population, and now the McCain and Palin teams are childishly swapping insults in the blame game.

What makes matters worse are the Republican pundits who are still involved in name-calling and smear tactics against our president-elect. I am glad that my Republican friends are not resorting to such low tactics.

If McCain really meant his rhetoric of working with Democrats and independents, it is time for him to condemn such activities. If you disagree with President-elect Barack Obama's policies, then speak up on the policies and give your argument.

Different viewpoints are important in a democracy, but don't keep repeating the false charges made during the election. Be an American first, and let's try to work together to accomplish improvements in our country and not just a childish impediment to change.
