DULUTH - A 20-year-old Duluth man faces a host of felony charges for keeping a cache of child pornography in his apartment, police said.
Acting on a tip, police found photographs of boys ages 5 to 10 in the Club Drive home of Corey Steven Maddox, officials said. Maddox is charged with nine counts of sexual exploitation of children. Gwinnett police arrested Maddox at the Lawrenceville grocery store where he's employed on Friday. He remains at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond. His probable cause hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. today. A friend visiting Maddox allegedly saw the photographs and reported them to another friend, who attends Phoenix High School in Lawrenceville. The latter teen came forward to school administrators who contacted Gwinnett police, according to a police report. Cpl. Illana Spellman, Gwinnett police spokesman, said investigators seized several CDs, DVDs and computer hard drives at Maddox's residence and found photos depicting the boys in sexual positions. "There is no evidence at this time to indicate that Maddox had contact with any of the children in the photographs," Spellman said. Maddox is not enrolled in the county's school system and did not attend Phoenix High, said Sloan Roach, Gwinnett County Public Schools spokeswoman. Spellman said Maddox also possessed a laptop computer at the time of his arrest, which was seized and will be searched for additional illegal material. Further charges could be pending, she said.More like this story
