Police seize meth from vehicle

An Atlanta man is behind bars after authorities seized about 6 pounds of methamphetamine during a traffic stop Friday.

Angel Covarrubias, 42, was traveling southbound on Interstate 85 when Gwinnett County deputies pulled him over for littering and following too closely, reports said. Deputies soon determined that Covarrubias was wanted in Louisiana for failure to appear. While searching the vehicle, reports said, deputies found the drugs, which have an estimated street value of $350,000.

They also reportedly seized $887 in cash.

Covarrubias is being held without bond in the Gwinnett County Detention Center on the charge of trafficking in methamphetamine.
