“COWBOY” Mr. Truman Edward “Cowboy” Hughes, age 84, of Grayson, GA, died November 9, 2008 from complications of Emphysema. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Delores Oakes Hughes; Children, Carol Diane & Tony Sims, Dunwoody, GA, Kenneth E. Hughes & Cathy Martin, Talking Rock, GA, Donna & Charles Harris, Dacula, GA, David E. Hughes, Winder, GA, Maurice A. Hughes & Faye Reed, Martin, GA, Clay & Jeri Hughes, Flowery Branch, GA, Deirdra S. Peters, Winder, GA, John Russell Cox, II, TN; Daughters-in-law, Debbie Rolin, Snellville, GA, Sandy Rolin, Tucker, GA; Son-in-law: Roy Kittrell, Greenville, NC; Sister, Margaret Savage, Lawrenceville, GA; Brother: Calvin Hughes, Venice, FL; 25 Grandchildren; 20 Great Grandchildren, and Several Nieces and Nephews. He was the legal guardian for Michael Kittrell. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 18 years, Della Mae Hughes, and his second wife of 26 years, B. Louise Hughes; Two Sons, Larry & Kenneth Rolin, Daughter; Elecia L. Kittrell, Brother; Raymond Leon Hughes. Truman Hughes was born in Chamblee, GA on October 2, 1924, to Truman Leet Hughes and Irene Britt Hughes. He served in the United States Army, was a member of the Grayson Masonic Lodge, and retired from Georgia Power after 36 years of service. He was proud in his lifetime to be known as the “Tucker Kid” and “Cowboy.” He was an avid collector of old things. He had two old cars that he showed often in various parades. He loved to shoot pool at the Senior Citizens Center and enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and Falcons. He once had an article written about him in the AJC about what a kind, just and good man he was to everyone. The Service Celebrating the Life of “Cowboy” will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the Peachtree Road (Old Field) Baptist Church with Dr. Terry L. Quick officiating.
