LILBURN - A fire that tore through a Lilburn home Wednesday morning displaced a family of four, officials said.
The blaze, reported by neighbors at 10:16 a.m., scorched an unoccupied two-story house in the 4800 block of Beverly Drive. The fire caused heavy damage to the structure and destroyed a car parked in an attached garage, Gwinnett County Fire Department spokesman Capt. Thomas Rutledge said. No injuries were reported. Rutledge said the family - two adults and two children - are receiving assistance from the Red Cross. The blaze appears to have started in the garage area, though an exact cause is under investigation. Officials don't suspect foul play, Rutledge said. "It took almost twenty firefighters about a half-hour to bring the fire under control," he said.More like this story
