Radloff ahead by 1,300 votes

LAWRENCEVILLE - As absentee ballots continued to be counted this morning,

longtime school board member Louise Radloff appeared set to win by a narrow

margin over opponent Ravindra Kumar.

As of 11 a.m., Radloff had 16,272 votes, or about 52 percent, while Kumar

had 14,943 votes, according to unofficial election results.

The 1,329 votes separating the candidates vying for the Gwinnett County

Board of Education's District 5 seat was larger than the difference of 536

at 7 a.m.

Radloff, who has a nonprofit organization, has served 36 years on the school board.

Kumar is a teacher and researcher at Morehouse School of Medicine whose children attend Berkmar High and the Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology.
