Short Circuit (PG)
Movie: 3 stars out of 4 Disc: 3 stars out of 4 At the height of their popularity, '80s mainstays Ally Sheedy and Steve Guttenberg teamed for this romantic sci-fi adventure, which carries a fair amount of cheese and boatloads of charm. The two leads take a backseat to Number 5, an experimental robot that takes on human qualities after being hit by lightning. If you've seen the trailer for the upcoming "WALL*E," you can't help but think it was inspired in some part by Number 5. The new, low-priced DVD is a must-own if only for the overhauled surround sound, isolated audio feature and wry commentary from director John Badham. Technical specifications: Widescreen (2.35:1), audio: English (Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround), subtitles: English and Spanish. Special features include: · Making-of featurette · Optional filmmaker commentary · Isolated music and effects tracks · Still galleries · Theatrical trailer · Talent files and interviews (Image Entertainment, $14.98)More like this story
