Local Arthritis Foundation chapter to hold fundraising walk
LAWRENCEVILLE - The Georgia chapter of the Arthritis Foundation will hold its inaugural Arthritis Walk in Gwinnett on May 31 at Rabbit Hill Park in Dacula. The annual nationwide event kicks off in May during National Arthritis Month, raising funds and awareness to fight arthritis, one of the nation's leading causes of disability. The Arthritis Walk Gwinnett is the only walk for arthritis north of Atlanta and is open to all people of Gwinnett and neighboring counties. In Gwinnett County alone, arthritis affects 160,000 adults and children, according to Theresa Lawrence-Ford, M.D., medical director of the North Georgia Rheumatology Group, P.C. and Arthritis Foundation Board member. GMC doctor performs new procedure to treat gall bladder LAWRENCEVILLE - Gwinnett Medical Center took another step in the path toward clinical advancement with the completion of the Single Incision Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy procedure earlier this month. The procedure, performed by Dr. James Elsey is performed for treatment of gall bladder disease and results in minimal scarring. Dr. Elsey performed the procedure through a single skin incision located in the patient's belly button. Patients are attracted to the visual appeal of having fewer post-operative scars, according to hospital officials.More like this story
