Jefferson Reynolds Hawkins, 86, of Lawrenceville, GA, died on May 15, 2008. The celebration of the life of Jefferson R. Hawkins will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 19th, at Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel Funeral Home in Norcross. Entombment will follow at Peachtree Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, May 18th, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. He joins his beloved daughter, Carol Ann Hawkins McKinney in heaven. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 64 years, Elizabeth; son-in-law, John M. McKinney and special “daughter” and caregiver, Kyle Eckman. Donald Hawkins, nephew and President of Southeastern Bible College, Birmingham, will preside over graveside services. Mr. Hawkins served in the Army Air Forces in Europe during W.W. II and was credited with 35 missions over Germany in 1944-45 as a navigator on B17 bombers. He earned 3 European Battle Stars and Air Medal with Silver Star. In 1951, he was recalled for the Korean War and flew B29 Super Fortress Bombers in Alaska. He will be dearly missed as a husband, father and hero. God Bless.
