Driving school to teach truck safety
LOGANVILLE - New London School of Driving will be hosting the American Trucking Association's National Safety Truck on Saturday.
Dennis Day, the past champion of the American Trucking Association's safety rodeo, will be training the attendees to drive safely around 18- wheelers. Participants will be able to sit in the cab of the big rig to experience firsthand what a driver can and can't see.
The truck will be at 4392-A Lawrenceville Road in Loganville.

Students raise money for athlete
NORCOSS - Students at Olympic hopeful Stephen Harris' former school are raising money to help the athlete chase his dream.
Norcross Elementary students are involved in a fruit punch sale to raise funds for the decathlete through Friday. It is being headed by Eve Hunter, Harris' former gym teacher, and Ken Almon, his fifth-grade teacher.

Auditions held this weekend
WINDER - Winder-Barrow Community Theatre will be holding auditions for two shows this weekend.
Children and adults can audition for both shows. At 11 a.m. Saturday, there will be auditions for the Children's PLAYhouse production of "A Cat's Tale" at the Colleen Williams Theater. Children ages six and up can audition for the show that will be performed July 12. No prepared material is required for the audition.
"Li'l Abner" auditions will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, 3 p.m. Sunday and 6 p.m. Monday at the theater. This play will be presented at the end of July as one of the WBCT Main Stage Productions.
Children ages 10 and up can audition as well as adults of all ages. Since this is a musical, prepared material is required for the audition. The music and monologues can be picked up at Pam Veader's State Farm Insurance Office at 41 S. Center Street in Winder (770-867-1679).
