Meadowcreek girls sign with Albany State
Meadowcreek seniors Marleny Espinoza and Aaryn Sells have accepted athletic scholarships to Albany State University. They will be honored with a banquet today at their high school.
Espinoza will play volleyball at the college level. She was an all-county selection as a senior.
Sells will play both tennis and fastpitch softball in college. She played those two sports, as well as basketball, for Meadowcreek.
Norcross honors four signees
Norcross honored four seniors who are playing sports at the college level with a banquet on Tuesday.
The college-bound athletes included basketball players Nicole Jones and Taylor Barnett, who are going to Auburn-Montgomery and Valdosta State, respectively.
Also honored were Hannah Nelson, who will play volleyball at Georgia Southern, and Matt Luckett, who will play golf at Thomas College.
Heart scans available May 22 at Buford
Smart Heart Scans For Athletes will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 22 at Buford High School to screen athletes for possible heart problems such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), or enlarged heart.
The eight-minute test can cost as much as $750 at private facilities, and isn't typically covered by insurance. Due to the volume or participants and the HCM-specific test, athletes tested at Buford will be charged only $65.

Prep Rally features soccer finals
Gwinnett Prep Rally, a Gwinnett County high school sports TV program, airs soccer highlights from the Brookwood-Walton boys semifinals, Providence Christian-Walker girls semifinals, Parkview-South Forsyth girls state championship game and Collins Hill-Walton boys state championship game on this week's show.
The North Gwinnett baseball team and head coach Frank Vashaw are featured in the "Wired" segment.
Gwinnett Prep Rally, hosted by Daily Post editor Todd Cline and sports editor Will Hammock, airs Tuesdays at 10:30 p.m. on GCPS-TV and each Wednesday-Saturday at 7:30 a.m., 6 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on GCPS-TV.
