William Dewey Melton, age 88 of Dacula passed away Sunday, May 11, 2008. Mr. Melton was preceded in death by his Wife: Beulah Price Melton; Parents: Mell & Blanch (Clark) Melton; Brother: Harold Melton; Sister: Geneva Davis. He is survived by Son & Daughter-in-law: Gary & Wren Melton of Grayson; Daughters & Sons-in-law: Gale & Wayne Bailey of Dacula, Kay & Rick McCormick of Albuquerque, NM; Sisters & Brothers-in-law: Etha & Bobby Dalton, Fay & Joe Arendall; Sister-in-law: Dorothy Melton; Grandchildren: William, Benjamin & Victoria McCormick of Albuquerque, NM. Mr. Melton was a long time member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and Gwinnett Historical Society where he and his wife became well known for their work in Genealogy. He was a farmer in the Harbins Community for many years. Retired from farming, he enjoyed his garden and fig orchard. Mr. Melton worked at Bell Aircraft in Marietta during World War II building the B-29's and he also served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked in the Gwinnett County Tax Assessors office as a Tax Appraiser during the 1960's. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 13, 2008 in the Lawrenceville Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Ferguson and Rev. Jeff Parmer will officiate.
