James F. Williams, age 78, of Bethlehem formerly of Lawrenceville, GA died on Friday, May 9, 2008 doing what he loved to do, working in the garden. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Pauline T. Williams; 4 Sons and Daughters-in-law; Philip & Debbie Williams, Wayne & Faye Williams, Carter & Angela Williams, Jerry & Ada Williams; Daughter & Son-in-law, Rick & Elisa Carnes; Brother & Sister-in-law; Sonny & Margaret Williams; Sister, Virginia Harbin; Uncle, Lloyd Melton; 4 Married Grandchildren; Kelly & Kevin Morris; Jeremy & Julie Williams; Jason & Jeanie Williams; David & Dana Williams; the Six Other Grandchildren Matthew Williams; Kevin Williams; Brittany Carnes; Laura King; Ryan Carnes; Emily Allison; 6 Great-Grandchildren, Jessica Williams; Hallie Stamper; Wesley Williams; William Morris; Andrew Morris; Adaleine Morris; and Numerous Nieces, Nephews, and other Family Members and Friends. Mr. Williams was the first New Year's baby born in Rome, GA on January 1, 1930, to Stanford McKindley Williams and Cora Maybell Melton Williams-Ballard. He served in the Civil Service with the U.S. Coast Guard and retired after 38 years of service from the General Motors Co. in Doraville, GA. He was a Member and Deacon of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church, served as Past Master of the Lawrenceville Masonic Lodge #131 F.&A.M. in 1968, also served as Past Director of Work for the Lodge, and was the first Worshipful Master of the Day Light Lodge. He was preceded in death by parents, his brother, S.W. Williams and several other loved ones. The Service Celebrating the Life of James F. Williams will be held Monday, May 12, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the Walnut Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Hudlow officiating. Interment at the Church Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Service by the Gwinnett Memorial Masonic Club. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. and on Monday after 12:00 o'clock at the funeral home.
