SUWANEE - The Gwinnett County Board of Education named the principals of four schools for the upcoming school year.
David Ashton, an assistant principal at Oakland Meadow School, will replace the school's retiring principal, Carol Quinn. Ashton is a former special education teacher and also served as an assistant principal at Sweetwater and Berkmar middle schools.
Reginald Kirkland, an assistant principal at J.E. Richards Middle School, will replace the school's retiring principal, Judy Stephens. He previously served as a teacher and administrator at several schools in Michigan.
Gene Taylor, the principal at Alton C. Crews Middle, will lead Lilburn Middle. Cecilia Garcia, the principal of the Lilburn school, is retiring. Gene Taylor's experience in education includes work at the college level. He also served as the social studies department chair and as an assistant principal at North Gwinnett High School.
Wandy Taylor, an assistant principal at Lilburn Elementary, will lead the school next year, as principal Jackie Beasley is transferring to a systemwide position at the Instructional Support Center. Wandy Taylor has also served as a school counselor at Lilburn Middle and as a counselor and administrator at several schools in South Carolina.
All appointments are effective July 1.
