DULUTH - Five Radloff Middle School students were hospitalized with minor injuries when a car collided with their school bus Monday morning, officials said.
The two-vehicle accident happened about 9:20 a.m. near the intersection of Shackelford Road and Steve Reynolds Boulevard, roughly a block away from the middle school. Twenty-three students were en route to school when a car struck the bus near its main door, Gwinnett Public Schools spokeswoman Sloan Roach said. At the scene, eight students complained of injuries ranging from headaches to nausea. Five of them were transported as a precaution for an evaluation at Gwinnett Medical Center. Three others were treated at the scene and released to the school, Roach said. The driver of the bus was not injured. Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Illana Spellman said the driver of the passenger car ran a red light and struck the school bus. The driver was not injured, she said. Heather Darenberg contributed to this reportMore like this story
