Students wanted for GUIDE board
LAWRENCEVILLE - Gwinnett United in Drug Education Inc. is looking for energetic, dedicated high school students to serve on its youth advisory board.
GUIDE is a nonprofit community-based drug prevention agency that coordinates drug abuse prevention programs in the Gwinnett County area.
Teens interested in joining the advisory board should attend a meeting from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Rhodes Jordan Community Center.

Fishing tournament held at Lake Lanier
LAKE LANIER - Ultimate Match Fishing, a nationally-sponsored fishing tournament, was held March 17 to 22 Lake Lanier.
The competition included anglers Mark Davis and Byron Velvick, who is most recently known as ABC television's "The Bachelor" as well as co-host of "BassCenter" on ESPN. The final competition of the round featured three-time Bass Elite Series Tournament Champion Kelly Jordan and Japan's Takohiro Omori, 2004 Bassmaster Classic champion.
The unique, single-elimination invitational tournament pitted major professional anglers against each other - while fishing in the same boat. The tournament included 12 of North America's top professional anglers who competed for a grand prize of $50,000. Ultimate Match Fishing was emceed by Joe Thomas, host of Angler on Tour, and was filmed in high definition. It will air on both the Outdoor Channel and on OC2 HD in July.

Flying seminar planned for Saturday
LAWRENCEVILLE - The Experimental Aircraft Association will host a Learning to Fly seminar Saturday.
The program has helped many begin or complete their flight training safely and efficiently since its introduction in 1997.
The seminar is open to anyone who has ever thought of learning to fly, but does not know how or where to begin.
A pancake breakfast or refreshments are available from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Parking and admission to the seminar are free. Registration for the program begins at
10 a.m. The presentations begin promptly at 10:30 a.m., with a question-and-answer period to follow.
