LAWRENCEVILLE - A Lawrenceville woman died Thursday from injuries she received as a passenger of a motorcycle that was struck by a vehicle turning onto Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road, police say.
Kelly Poplovich, 41, was ejected from a 2002 Harley-Davidson motorcycle upon impact and struck a third car, Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Illana Spellman said. Poplovich was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center where she later died, Spellman said. The accident occurred about 8:30 p.m. Thursday when a 1999 Oldsmobile turning onto Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road from Duluth Highway struck the motorcycle. Poplovich and the motorcycle's driver were ejected and subsequently struck a 2003 Kia Sedona turning onto Duluth Highway from Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road. The driver of the motorcycle, 37-year-old Lawrenceville resident Jason Torres, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital. He is expected to survive. Spellman said charges against the uninjured driver of the Oldsmobile, Lawrenceville resident Cassandra Elkin, 22, are pending.More like this story
