LAWRENCEVILLE - A man was shot and killed Thursday near the intersection of Hurricane Shoals Road and Northdale Road, snarling rush-hour traffic and marking the county's third killing this week.
The man, whose name is not being released at this time, was able to drive his car a short distance after being shot in a parking lot until he crashed into another vehicle, Lawrenceville police Capt. Greg Vaughn said. He was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center where he died, Vaughn said. Witnesses told investigators that several individuals, including the man, were arguing in the parking lot of the Lawrenceville Trading Post about 3 p.m. when multiple shots were fired. The man, who was in his car during the altercation, pulled his vehicle onto Hurricane Shoals Road heading west at a high rate of speed and crashed into a utility truck about 150-yards down the road. Police do not know how many people were involved in the incident and have no suspects, Vaughn said. Early Thursday evening, investigators were interviewing witnesses and canvassing nearby residential areas. Authorities also intend to view surveillance tapes from a nearby Citgo gas station for clues to the shooting. The shooting, which forced police to block a stretch of Hurricane Shoals Road, slowed rush-hour traffic as cars were rerouted.More like this story
