NORCROSS - Gwinnett police continued searching Tuesday for a pregnant Norcross woman's killer.
Investigators got a late start in the case after 35-year-old Yvette Scott's body was found Easter morning in her fire-damaged home on Windward Lane. Based on autopsy results, investigators determined Scott was murdered. They started pursuing leads Monday afternoon, police said.
Police have not identified suspects or given any indication how the pregnant woman was killed.
Neighbors said Scott lived with a man and two dogs. The dogs also were killed in the Sunday morning fire. The couple cared for two young relatives - possibly Scott's niece and nephew - who also lived at the home, neighbors said.
Cpl. Illana Spellman, Gwinnett police spokeswoman, would not say whether Scott's live-in partner is considered a suspect or not.
A neighbor saw the home burning about 8 a.m. Sunday and called 911.
Capt. Thomas Rutledge, Gwinnett County Fire Department spokesman, said the fire was contained to an upstairs bedroom in the split-level home. He declined to say where Scott's body was found.
Police urge anyone with information to call investigators at 770-513-5300.
