BUFORD - The Georgia State Patrol could pursue charges against a man who parked his truck in the path of a Buford motorcyclist who died last week, police said.
Richard Corbin, 53, was killed Thursday night when his late-model Harley Davidson struck a pickup truck near Buford in Hall County. He died a short time after the crash at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, police said.
Trooper Steve Thompson said Corbin collided with the truck in the northbound lane of South Waterworks Road. The truck was parked in the roadway, facing the oncoming motorcyclist, Thompson said.
"The car was in his lane," Thompson said.
Thompson could not provide the vehicle owner's name Tuesday.
Corbin's motorcycle had an attached sidecar, but no one else was injured in the crash. The truck incurred minor damages, Thompson said.
Thompson said accident reconstructionists will present their findings to the Hall County District Attorney's Office in coming days.
Larry Schnall, Georgia State Patrol spokesman, said the vehicle owner could face charges for parking illegally, but all charges hinge on what accident investigators find.
"Basically, it's an open case," Schnall said.
