Mr. and Mrs. William F. Mauldin of Hoschton announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Amanda Mauldin of Canton, to James Eric Skates of Canton, son of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Skates of Dalton.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Lucy Bond of Lavonia and the late Moody Bond and Claudine Mauldin of Lavonia and the late Silas Mauldin. She is a graduate of Berkmar High School and Brenau Women's College, where she received a bachelor's degree in education. She is a graduate of Walden University, where she received a master's degree in education. She is employed by Johnston Elementary School in Cherokee County as a special education teacher. The future groom is the grandson of Pauline Skates of Dalton and the late Robert Skates and the late Douglas and Mary Davis. He is a graduate of Dalton High School and is attending Kennesaw State University, where he is pursuing a degree in communications. He is employed by AESI as a communications coordinator and by Century 21 as a real estate agent. The wedding is planned for June 7 at Flint Hill Mansion in Norcross.More like this story
