Fire at business caught early
DULUTH - An employee coming to work in the wee hours of Friday morning was surprised to find a Duluth business on fire, officials said.
The employee called 911 at 4:13 a.m., reporting a fire at Iron Mountain, a document destruction company on North Berkeley Lake Road.
Firefighters found smoke issuing from the large industrial warehouse's roof, but they were able to knock the fire down in about 20 minutes, Gwinnett County Fire Department spokesman Capt. Thomas Rutledge said.
"Two people were in the building at the time and both safely evacuated before firefighters arrived," Rutledge said.
No injuries were reported. The business escaped structural damage, and crews were working to ventilate smoke Friday, Rutledge said.
