SNELLVILLE - Crews working to put a median on U.S. Highway 78 are squeezing the lanes even further.
The outside westbound lane from East and West Park Place to Stone Drive will be closed from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. as construction work continues on the $31 million project. The outside eastbound lane for that some section remains closed during those hours. Georgia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Teri Pope said workers are moving the curb in the outside lanes, then replacing what was ripped out. When that process is done, they will install the median. "It's going well," she said. The westbound closures started Sunday night. Pope said during the overnight hours, there will be two westbound and one eastbound lanes open, plus the center turn lane. When the project is done in November 2009, there will be three lanes open in each direction. For more information on the project, see www.78smh.com.More like this story
