Mr. William Buice Wallace, age 78, of Buford, GA passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2008. Mr. Wallace was born November 12, 1929 to Garland Ray and Ruth Buice Wallace who predeceased him. He was married to Jo Ann Hobby on May 21, 1952. He is survived by his: Devoted Wife of 55 years: Mrs. Jo Ann H. Wallace, Buford, GA; Daughter and Son-In-Law: Joy Crane Ledford and Rodney Ledford, Buford, GA; Son: Bill G. Wallace, Commerce, GA; Grandchildren: Benjamin Crane, Buford, GA, Emily Crane, Buford, GA; Four Step Grandchildren; Sisters-In-Law and Brothers-In-Law: Joyce Stevens Engle and Robert Engle, Naples, FL, Dr. Royce and Priscilla Hobby, St. Petersburg, FL, Clyde R. Hobby, Jr. and Myrtis Hobby, Naples, FL; Special Cousins: Rene Buice White and Larry White, Lilburn, GA, Horace and Nancy Parker, Blairsville, GA; Many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. A graduate of Buford High School, he received his B. A. degree from Mercer University in Macon, GA with majors in Business and Music. While at Mercer, he was a student performing vocal artist in the Mercer Choir and Drama Department; and also a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He later served on the Mercer University Board of Trustees. Following college, he served in the United States Air Force as a First Lieutenant. Mr. Wallace joined his parents in the family apparel business, N. W. Buice & Co., later becoming sole proprietor. N. W. Buice, Sr. and daughter, Ruth Buice established the business in 1917. Several years later Garland Wallace joined the business with his wife, Ruth and father-in-law, N. W. Buice. The business thrived under Buice Wallace's leadership until he closed the store in 1986. At that time, it was the longest continuously family owned and operated business in Gwinnett County. After his retirement from the store, he continued his interest in the fashion industry by becoming a professional display designer at the Atlanta Apparel Mart and many other area businesses. He participated in many civic and community activities. He was a life long member of the First Baptist Church of Buford, serving as Lay Minister of Music for 17 years. After being a Deacon in the church for many years, he was named Deacon Emeritus in 2004. Throughout his life, Buice Wallace used his voice as his testimony of his faith in the Lord and for the glory of God. He led the music in many revivals, sang in the church choir, at weddings, and other church related activities. He was a faithful member of the Upper Room Sunday School Class, and served as president for several years. Besides his commitment to the church, his love and caring for his children and grandchildren, and his business, he enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, and traveling extensively with his wife. Buice was blessed with many artistic talents and he used them in all his endeavors. Visitation will be at Flanigan Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2008. His home-going celebration will be at the First Baptist Church of Buford on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with remains placed in state at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Boardlawn Memorial Gardens, Buford, GA.
