Portraits honor victims in courthouse shooting

ATLANTA - The widow of a sheriff's deputy killed in a courthouse rampage urged security personnel Tuesday to 'never let your guard down' as victims' relatives gathered at a memorial service on the third anniversary of the shooting spree.

Portraits of the three people killed at the Fulton County Courthouse on March 11, 2005, were unveiled and were expected to be hung on a wall in an atrium inside the courthouse complex.

A federal agent killed a few miles away from the courthouse, David Wilhelm, was previously honored when authorities named an anti-drug task force after him.

The portraits will be taken down during Brian Nichols' murder trial, which resumes July 10, if it is held in the courthouse complex as currently planned, according to Superior Court Judge John Goger.
