WINDER - Barrow County offers a lot of entertainment and amenities right around the corner and the Chamber of Commerce wants to show them off.
The Chamber is sponsoring its Exploring Barrow Tour, which for seven years has taken participants to some of the county's highlights.
In case of an emergency, would newcomers know how to get to the closest hospital? Do long-term residents know they can choose from a variety of subjects to study right in downtown Winder?
Participants will tour and explore Lanier Technical College, the Colleen O. Williams Theater that professionally produces well-known, popular live shows, the 1,816-acre Fort Yargo State Park that holds walking and biking trails, lakes, campgrounds and historical sites, Barrow Regional Medical Center and the Northeast Georgia Regional Airport.
The Barrow County Regional Medical Center will provide lunch at no charge on the premises.
Participants can register by calling 770-867-9444. The tour is open to anyone who wants to learn more about Barrow County.
"There are people who have lived here for years who don't know we have an airport," said Debi Krause, vice president of membership services.
