DACULA - Police have identified the driver killed Saturday in a single-car crash near Dacula as a 28-year-old Statham man.
Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. David Schiralli said Steven Mote lost control of his 2004 Ford Ranger after he partially left Old Fountain Road, near the intersection of Evergreen Eve Crossing in unincorporated Gwinnett County, and tried to steer back into his northbound lane. This caused the vehicle to overturn, ejecting Mote in the process. Mote, who authorities said was unrestrained, was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was in the vehicle at the time of the 2 a.m. wreck. Alcohol and toxicology tests are pending, Schiralli said.More like this story
