GRAYSON - The Grayson City Council voted to keep its millage rate at 2.5 mills Monday night, the same as last year.
When the new budget is presented in August, it is estimated that there will be a 17 percent rate hike in the tax digest, not because of the millage rate, but because of Gwinnett County's overall higher appraisal of homes within the city limits. A public hearing for the millage rate was held prior to the regular City Council meeting. In other business, the Council: · Authorized Deluxe Pavement Services to provide paving work, which includes pre-striping, for the City Park parking lot. The amount of this expenditure will be $3,456. · Voted to replace the air conditioning units in the city's senior center and administrative offices for a cost of $6,750. · Mayor Jim Hinkle also unveiled to the Council a new City of Grayson flag with the recently approved City Seal on it. Council members will take the flag to the upcoming Georgia Municipal Association Convention in Savannah.More like this story
