LAWRENCEVILLE - Gwinnett's medical examiner identified the victim of a drowning Friday in the Chattahoochee River.

The man, who reportedly slipped on rocks near Jones Bridge Park, was Edwin Paute-Fernandez, 28, who lived in Doraville, according to chief forensic investigator Ted Bailey.

The swift water rescue unit of the Gwinnett Fire Department worked with other units from Roswell, DeKalb and Forsyth counties and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to recover the body, after Paute-Fernandez fell into the water shortly after 2 p.m. Friday.
