LILBURN - The pedestrian killed in Saturday's hit-and-run accident in Lilburn has been identified as 33-year-old Nahum Chazari-Reyes, the Gwinnett Medical Examiner's Office said Wednesday.
Chazari-Reyes, whose last known address was in Norcross, died after being struck by a minivan as he crossed Indian Trail-Lilburn Road at about 11 p.m., police said earlier this week.
Police say Chazari-Reyes did not use a designated crosswalk when he attempted to run across the busy roadway near Burns Road.
He was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center where he later died. Chazari-Reyes' identity was not immediately known because he wasn't carrying an ID.
The driver of the minivan allegedly hit Chazari-Reyes in the right westbound lane and failed to stop or return to the scene after the collision, police said. The vehicle is described as a black or purple minivan.
Police urge anyone who may have any information regarding the incident to contact the Gwinnett County Accident Investigation Unit at 770-338-7430.
