LAWRENCEVILLE - The Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce will host its annual "State of Health Care in Gwinnett" forum Tuesday at the Atlanta Marriot - Gwinnett Place.
The forum, sponsored by the Gwinnett Daily Post, will feature guest speaker Kimberly Ryan, CEO of Emory Eastside Medical Center.
The forum will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Ryan previously served as chief operating officer at Tulane Medical Center during Hurricane Katrina.
She will discuss her experiences and lessons learned from the Hurricane Katrina disaster and how they are applicable in Gwinnett. Ryan's experience at Tulane included the safe evacuation of 178 patients and 1,100 patient family members, physicians, employees and their families immediately following the devastating 2005 hurricane.
Observers said Ryan's leadership was critical in the hospital's downtown campus being rebuilt, allowing for the return of tertiary and quaternary patient care to the community.
Ryan, who began her career as a nurse, has more than 29 years of experience in health care.
Cost for the event is $45 for chamber members and $55 for nonmembers. The registration deadline is Friday and walk-ins are not guaranteed a seat.
