LAWRENCEVILLE - Gwinnett police are searching for a bandit with a penchant for robbing Norcross-area Waffle House restaurants in the wee hours of the morning.
Police believe the same man is behind a rash of three armed robberies at Waffle House establishments beginning May 22. Each time, he's allegedly targeted the restaurants between midnight and 5 a.m., brandishing a small black handgun, demanding money and fleeing on foot. He last struck in Norcross after 3 a.m. May 30, police said. Police released surveillance images Monday in hopes the public might provide tips. Witnesses describe the suspect as a 30 to 35-year-old black man, 6 feet tall and about 170 pounds. He has a dollar sign tattoo on his right shoulder and should be considered armed and dangerous, said Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. David Schiralli. Investigators believe the same man could be behind other heists outside the county. Schiralli couldn't specify how much cash the robber has allegedly made off with. Police urge anyone with information about the robberies or the suspect to contact the Gwinnett County Police Department at 770-513-5300.More like this story
