LILBURN - Authorities are still searching for the driver of a minivan who allegedly struck and killed a pedestrian Saturday, police said.
The victim, who remains unidentified, died Saturday after being struck by a black or purple minivan traveling westbound on Indian Trail-Lilburn Road at about 11 p.m. The individual - who did not use the crosswalk - was attempting to run across the roadway at the time of the incident, according to Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Illana Spellman.
The victim later died after being transported to Gwinnett Medical Center. The identity of the pedestrian remains unknown because no ID was found on scene.
Authorities say the driver failed to stop or return to the scene after hitting the victim. The vehicle in question may be a black or purple minivan, Spellman said.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a contributing factor, she said.
Police urge anyone who may have any information regarding the incident to contact the Gwinnett County Accident Investigation Unit at 770-338-7430.
