LAWRENCEVILLE - Residents won't have to go to the ballpark to keep up with the Gwinnett Braves.
Officials announced a five-year exclusive radio partnership for the Triple-A team, which will begin play next year, with WDUN Newstalk 550 AM radio. The station will air pre- and post-game shows with broadcasts of all 144 regular season games and any playoff games. "WDUN 550 will be a great partner for us, and we look forward to having them start the team's new chapter in Gwinnett," Gwinnett Braves general manager Bruce Baldwin said. WSB radio sports director Tony Schiavone will be the play-by-play announcer, and he will be joined in the booth for all home games by Judd Hickinbotham, according to a press release. "Our affiliation with the Atlanta Braves goes back to 1966 and now to launch a new affiliation with the Gwinnett Braves to serve the growing Gwinnett/northeast Georgia community is even more exciting," said Jay Jacobs, president of Jacobs Media and WDUN Newstalk 550. WDUN will kick off the 2009 season by hosting a one-hour inaugural program live from the new Gwinnett ballpark before the first home game. The date has not been set.More like this story
