Warren Boyce Patton passed away on July 12, 2008, at the home of his daughter, surrounded by family after courageously battling pancreatic cancer for almost a year and a half. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, he was also a retired businessman; and later, as a teacher and coach, he touched the lives of many people. His devotion to his family and to his friends was tireless and uncompromising, as was he faith in God and his commitment to fighting cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of over 42 years, Karen Snapp Patton, originally of Piney Flats and Kingsport, Tn., and now of Dacula, Ga., his daughter, Ginger Kay Patton-Schmitt, her husband, Michael Schmitt, their sons, Warren Michael Patton Schmitt, Ellis Hughes Patton Schmitt, and Samuel Andrew Patton Schmitt, all of Suwanee, Ga., his daughter, Stephanie Karen Patton, of Decatur, Ga., his sister, Kay Patton Powell, now of Richmond, Ky., her husband and daughter, and William Lyon, now of Blountville, Tn., his wife, children, and grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 18, 2008, at 1:00 p.m., at Duluth First United Church, 3208 Duluth Highway 120, Duluth, GA 30096, with a reception immediately following at the home of his daughter, Ginger Patton-Schmitt.
