Dacula athlete arrested

DACULA - A former Dacula football standout was arrested last month in connection with allegedly making a death threat via text message, records show.

Samuel Francisco Barry, 17, a recent graduate of Dacula High School, was arrested June 7 and charged with one count of harassing phone calls, according to jail records.

He was released from the Gwinnett jail the following day on $5,600 bond.

According to a May 11 Gwinnett County Police incident report, Barry sent a text message to a 15-year-old sibling of his ex-girlfriend which included the phrase, "You know I'll kill you right."

The report states there is a history of complaints involving Barry and the alleged victim. No further details were provided.

Barry, who goes by Cisco Barry on Dacula's football roster, was the team's leading rusher in his senior year, racking up 1,081 yards and nine TDs.
