Lawrenceville co-op gets $10,000 grant

LAWRENCEVILLE - The Jackson EMC Foundation has given a $10,000 grant to the Lawrenceville Cooperative Ministry to help the organization provide clients with emergency food supplies.

Each month, the ministry distributes more than 20,000 cans of food to more than 500 different households. Employment cutbacks in landscaping, construction and housekeeping have increased the demand for emergency food resources.

Clients may get a supply of food - canned and boxed items that supply a week's nutritionally balanced diet - every 30 days. The emergency food supply buys time for individuals and families to deal with difficult and frequently temporary circumstances, with a goal of helping them get back on their feet.
