Ringling Bros. comes to school

LILBURN - Students at Lilburn Elementary School received free tickets to a show at Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus after participating in a CircusFit event.

Mayor Diana Preston proclaimed the week Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey CircusFit week for the city of Lilburn.

Plant symposium planned Feb. 16

ATLANTA - The 13th Plant Symposium presented by the Georgia Native Plant Society will take place Feb. 16.

It will be held in the Administrative and Conference Center at Mercer University Campus, North Entrance, 2930 Flowers Road in Atlanta from 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Registration is $60 and $50 for members.

Tickets on sale to Valentine's event

ATLANTA - Valentine's in the Garden tickets are on sale.

A romantic Valentine's evening in the Atlanta Botanical Garden is scheduled Feb. 14 from 6 to 10 p.m. The Garden has been twice selected as Atlanta's most popular place to kiss (and even propose).

Tickets are $30 ($25 per Garden member) and will be available at all Ticketmaster locations, www.ticketmaster.com, and the Garden Gift Shop.

Couples can cozy up as they listen to live music, feast on desserts by Affairs to Remember and sip specialty mochas and flavored lattes from a gourmet coffee bar in Day Hall. Cash bars featuring champagne and martinis will also be available.

Candlelit paths guide guests to the Fuqua Conservatory and Orchid Center. Gifts of blooming live orchid plants and other specialty items will be available for purchase at the Garden Gift Shop during the evening.

The Garden is located at 1345 Piedmont Ave. in the heart of Midtown, between 14th Street and Monroe Drive.
