Brush fire nears Lilburn home
LILBURN - A brush fire consumed about a half-acre of dense brush and trees Tuesday in Lilburn before firefighters were able to quell it.
The fire happened on Martin Nash Road in an empty lot around 2:30 p.m. Firefighters had it under control about 15 minutes later, said Gwinnett fire spokesman Capt. Thomas Rutledge.
The fire threatened a nearby house as flames burned to within 10 feet of the structure before firefighter put them down, Rutledge said.
No injuries were reported.
The exact cause of the fire was undetermined Tuesday night, Rutledge said.
Fire scorches 3 acres in Norcross
NORCROSS - A grass fire threatened a town home building in Norcross on Tuesday afternoon as it burned up to three acres of grass.
Firefighters were dispatched to the blaze at 2:35 p.m. and had it under control about 40 minutes later, said Gwinnett fire spokesman Capt. Thomas Rutledge.
The fire occurred on Tohenham Circle near Breenbridge Drive. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation, Rutledge said. The blaze caused minor damage to an air-conditioning unit outside the building but did not extend to the interior, Rutledge said.
