LOVEJOY - Shiloh had eight wrestlers place at the Wildcat Rumble to win the tournament Saturday at Lovejoy High School.
Daniel Helena, who was named most outstanding wrestler, Davis Taylor and Lucas Austin all took first place. Jimmy Ho placed second, Sam Oloba and Devarious Thomas took third, and Billy Merfert and Justin Wofford finished in fourth place. WRESTLING North places third in Wildcat Brawl FAYETTEVILLE - North Gwinnett's wrestling team, despite being without three key starters, placed third in this past weekend's Wildcat Southside Brawl at Whitewater. Greg Epps (103 pounds), Travis Sheehy (152) and Alex Reffett (171) each won tournament championships in the 20-team tournament. Daniel Cole (second at 135), Cody Franklin (third at 125), Michael Hagen (third at 160), Corey Newman (fourth at 140), David Singletary (fifth at 119), Taz Rogers (fifth at 145) and Warren Roberts (sixth at 189) all placed for the Bulldogs. Parkview wins ninth-grade county wrestling title DACULA - Parkview won the the ninth-grade Gwinnett County wrestling tournament Saturday at Dacula High School. The Panthers had 14 wrestlers place in the 15 weight classes, including five county champions. Collins Hill also had five county champions to finish in second place, while Mill Creek took third and Grayson placed fourth. Parkview's county champs were Taz Torbit (130 pounds), Victor Le (140), Ike Onike (152), Will Squires (160) and Austin Sanders (171). Collins Hill's county champions were Z. Wallingford (95), Bazell Patridge (103), Matthew Pawlick (112), Bruno Rezende (125) and Michael Spikes (145). Mill Creek's Mitch Loving (119) and Austin Hagan (215) won titles, Central Gwinnett's Miles Cunningham (135), Peachtree Ridge's Zach Brownlow (189) and South Gwinnett's Jon Mudd (285) also won championships. GIRLS BASKETBALL Meadowcreek 52, Grayson 39 NORCROSS - Genea Williams scored 32 points and pulled in seven rebounds as Meadowcreek downed Grayson 52-39 on Monday. Brooke Wigfall added 10 points and Massy Soumahoro added six to go with her 10 rebounds and four blocks for the Mustangs (5-16, 2-7 Region 8-AAAAA). BOYS BASKETBALL Meadowcreek 77, Grayson 54 NORCROSS - Freshmen Dominique McKoy posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead Meadowcreek to a 77-54 win over Grayson on Monday. Teondre Williams led the Mustangs (14-6, 7-2 Region 8-AAAAA) with 18 points. SWIMMING/DIVING Wesleyan boys sixth at Metro ATLANTA - The Wesleyan boys swimming and diving team placed sixth in the 50-team Metro City Championships this past weekend. The Wolves were 12th in girls competition. Wesleyan's boys top-10 boys placers were: Michael Reynolds (seventh in the 200 freestyle, eighth in the 500 free), Zach Hernandez (eighth in diving), Rich McMurry (second in 100 free) and J.P. McLaughlin (ninth in the 100 breaststroke). The Wolves' top girls finishers were Erika Ramsey (eighth in the 50 free, 10th in the 100 free) and Jordan Jackson (eighth in the 100 backstroke). - From staff reportsMore like this story
