LAWRENCEVILLE - A 30-year-old Snellville man was arrested late Monday for allegedly fighting with two Gwinnett police officers during a DUI traffic stop.
James Smalls, 4920 Wynship Lane, faces a slew of charges stemming from the incident, including two felonies for obstructing police officers and marijuana possession with intent to distribute. Smalls was pulled over Monday night at the intersection of Lee Road and Bridle Point Parkway after police noticed his vehicle swerving, according to an arrest warrant. As two Gwinnett police officers questioned Smalls, he pulled away from them and "turned around fighting," according to the warrant. The officers were able to force Smalls to the ground and apprehend him. The warrant indicates Smalls carried less than one ounce of marijuana, but he did not carry a valid driver's license. He was cited for operating a vehicle without a license and failure to maintain lane in addition to DUI charges. Smalls remained at the Gwinnett County Jail on Tuesday on $6,600 bond.More like this story
