WINDER - Barrow County could lose about 177.5 acres of land zoned for agricultural uses if the Board of Commissioners votes to rezone the acreage.
Four separate tracts are at issue. The Planning Department staff recommends approval of all four rezonings. · A case tabled from November and December involving 57.87 acres on Loganville Highway will again go before the board. The applicants are asking that the acreage be rezoned for the purpose of constructing a master-planned development. The Northeast Georgia Regional Development Center found the proposed development not in the best interests of the region nor the state. · The board will consider a second proposed master-planned development on 113.76 acres at the intersection of Ga. Highway 53 and Robertson Bridge Road. The development would hold 133 single-family homes from 1,800 to 3,000 square feet, 109 town homes, 42 assisted living homes and 11 acres of commercial development. · Eddie Butler requested that 5.1 acres at 957 Old Thompson Mill Road be rezoned residential to be subdivided into four separate parcels. · Lyn and Beverly Clement are requesting a rezoning to residential of .46 acre to be joined with .603 residential acres.
