Driver arrested in Norcross crash

NORCROSS - A Tuesday night crash off Interstate 85 landed one person in an Atlanta hospital and another in jail.

The passenger in a 2000 Ford Ranger was ejected from the vehicle after the driver cut off another car, causing the truck to roll several times, police said.

The ejected man was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where he remained in critical condition Wednesday. The driver was not injured.

The two-car accident happened about 8 p.m. at the intersection of Jimmy Carter Boulevard and the southbound I-85 exit ramp.

Police arrested the driver of the truck for driving without a valid license and making an unsafe lane change, said Gwinnett police spokesman Officer David Schiralli.

Police withheld the names of both the driver and passenger of the truck Tuesday until positive identifications could be made.

Schiralli said the name the driver supplied police could be fictitious.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 2003 Saturn, was not injured.
